Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 18, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Truck Test DMV ("we", "us", or "the app") handles information when you use the Truck Test DMV iOS application. We've written this in plain English so that it's easy to understand before you download the app or make a purchase.
Summary: Truck Test DMV is a local-first study app. Your progress, streaks, and answers stay on your device. We don't run a user account system and we don't collect personal information on our servers.
1. Information we collect
On-device data
All of your study data — selected state, practice history, streaks, bookmarked questions, exam results, and notification preferences — is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData. We do not transmit this information to our servers, because we do not operate user-data servers.
Purchases (StoreKit)
Subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit and the App Store. Apple shares with us only the receipts and subscription status needed to unlock Pro features on your device. We never see your name, email, payment method, or billing address. Apple's handling of this information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Advertising (Google AdMob — Free tier only)
The free tier of Truck Test DMV shows ads delivered by Google AdMob. Pro subscribers do not see ads. To deliver and measure ads, AdMob and its partners may collect:
- The Apple Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), only if you grant App Tracking Transparency permission
- A non-resettable Identifier for Vendors (IDFV)
- IP address, approximate location derived from IP, device type, operating system, and language
- Ad-interaction events (impressions, clicks)
You can review and manage Google's use of this data through Google's Ads & Data controls and Google's Privacy & Terms. You can also turn off personalized ads on iOS in Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising and limit cross-app tracking in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Local notifications
Truck Test DMV uses iOS local notifications to remind you about your daily study streak at a time you choose. These notifications are scheduled by the app on your device. We do not operate a push notification server and we do not collect a device token.
Crash and diagnostic data
If you opt in to share diagnostics with developers under Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may share anonymized crash reports with us. We use these only to fix bugs.
2. How we use information
- To run the app on your device (your local study data)
- To unlock Pro features after a verified purchase (StoreKit receipts)
- To show ads to free-tier users (AdMob)
- To diagnose and fix bugs (anonymized crash reports, if you opt in)
3. Sharing and selling
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. The only third parties involved in delivering the service are Apple (purchases, App Store, local notifications, optional diagnostics) and Google AdMob (free-tier ads).
4. Children
Truck Test DMV is intended for users who are old enough to obtain a Commercial Learner's Permit or CDL in their state, and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
5. Your choices
- You can deny or revoke App Tracking Transparency permission for the app at any time in iOS Settings.
- You can turn off notifications for the app under Settings → Notifications.
- You can delete the app to remove all on-device study data. There is no separate "delete my account" step because we do not maintain accounts.
- You can cancel a subscription at any time in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions.
6. Data retention
On-device data persists until you delete it or uninstall the app. Purchase receipts are retained by Apple. Ad-related data retention is governed by Google AdMob's policies.
7. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, surface a notice in the app.
